MISTY WOLF OF CAASA
Misty is a sexual abuse victims advocate for  the Centers
Against Abuse and Sexual Assault  which serves 19 counties in NW Iowa.
Joining  her was Krista Redinius (left)  from the Family Crisis Center which serves victims of domestic violence.   Both work out of the same office building and often intertwine.
CAASA had owned a Safe House in Spirit Lake until last year when they ran out of funds to continue it's operation.  However, advocacy tends to be more mobile and often victims need to be offered other options> There are safe houses lcated in Sioux City and Sioux Center.
CAASA has 17 paid staff members plus many volunteers.  They are  there to inform victims of their rights, to support them throughout forensic evidence  and help them through any court process.
Sexual Assault happens every day and victims need to know they are not alone.  Misty works with 30 - 50 clients every month.  She has also recently worked on a sex trafficking case.
The "Turn Our Community Blue" project this fall provided both CASA and the Family Crisis Center $2,000 each through the Law Enforcements request for the funds to go here where it is is needed.  These funds help to provide victims with immediate escape and rapid re-houseing.  The CAASA Hope Line is  1-877-362-4612.  The FCC is 1-800-382-5603 and available 24 hours a day.
