Kerry Schmidt with Mid-America Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Thundercloud District spoke to the Rotary noon lunch group on May 27. She spoke about the organization and its upcoming 100 year anniversary in February of 2010.

The Mid-America Council of the Boy Scouts of America is based in Omaha, Nebraska. They consist of 50 units of approximately 1000-1500 youth in the district. Dickinson County itself has 5 groups - 2 packs and 3 troops that involve about 140 youth total. Kerry also spoke about the upcoming BojiFest to be held June 19-21. Last year the event had 450 participants - most of which are Scouts that come to the Lakes area for watersports. This year kids from Omaha, Sioux City and the entire district will come to Lakeside Lutheran Camp and experience 55 different activities. The event is open to all youth, not just scouts.
