Norm Johnson with the YMCA and Jean Boone with Lakes Regional Healthcare Occupational Health spoke to Rotary on Wednesday, October 5 about their organizations’ new partnership. The new Occupational Health and Wellness program is designed to meet the needs of businesses in the area from flu shots to identifying health and safety issues to developing corporate wellness programs. Some of the services to be offered in the new program are:

·         Injury Treatment Programs

·         Workers Comp Case Management

·         On-site Nursing Services

·         Hearing Tests

·         Respiratory Protection Programs

·         Drug & Alcohol Testing

·         Wellness Programs

·         Immunizations/Flu Shots

·         Fitness Assessments

In addition, Norm spoke about a goal to become a Blue Zone Community in Iowa – be one of ten communities vying for $50 million in community funding by committing to becoming a healthier community. Norm invited everyone to join in the Start Somewhere Walk on Friday, October 7 at noon at the YMCA which is part of Iowa’s Healthiest State Initiative.
