Iowa Great Lakes Rotary has helped with the past two builds by provingin shingling assistance. This year will be no exception with May 16 planned as the day for Rotarians to climb the ladder and help with the roof on the new home being constructed in Milford.

The current Habitat for Humanity home that is being built in Milford started in January, after the family and lot had both been selected. A local architect helped design the home, which will be 1084 square feet, the maximum allowed on a Habitat for Humanity home. Volunteers are then utilized to build the actual home.

Many churches provide teams to assist in the build. On average, 300-400 people help with building a home, mainly on weekends, but some during weekdays as well. Various teams are in charge of differend aspects of the build, including ceiling/drywall, cabinets, deck/outer walls, and roofing and framing.

Of the eight homes built through the Dickinson/Clay county Habitiat for Humanity, all the families that have moved in are still in their homes.

Northwest Iowa Corridor Habitat for Humanity will be holding a "Raise the Roof" fundraiser on Friday, May 8th from 6-10 am. The KUOO Get up & Go Show will be broadcasting from Buy Rite Foods in Milford. For more information, please go to www.Bank-Northwest.com.
